I have a Canon Powershot SX100. I find the flash so bright it makes me look whiter than I am. How do I make it

How do I make the flash less bright on my Canon Powershot SX100?
I am a very pale redhead so whenever I take a pic it's like I put baby powder on my face haaha!
Lol I don't take those pictures with fish lips I might take one of my self though if i am bored or whatnot.

You’re not trying to take one of those awful self portraits with the camera held out at arm’s length while you make fish lips? Are you?

The problem is this: your arms isn’t long enough!

The little flash on most point&shoot digitals has an effective range of about three feet (closest) to about eight feet (greatest distance).

Any closer and the flash is too strong. Farther away and it’s too weak.

Just recognize the limitation of your equipment and have someone else take the picture.

The added bonus here is that you will then have the camera far enough away from your face that your nose doesn’t look like a swollen mass.

Try taping a piece of tissue paper or white paper over the flash. That may calm it down, but you will have to be careful of underexposure. Your camera may have a flash exposure compensation setting as well. Try some minus exposure comp and see if that helps.
